DISTRACTED DRIVERS Thu, Sep 11, 2014 The Insurance Bureau of Canada says drivers talking on the phone or texting now cause more deaths on Ontario roads than drunk drivers. As of March 18th the fines for distracted driving offences have increased to $280.00 from $155.00. The fine is for people who plead guilty. If someone is found guilty at a hearing, a justice of the peace can impose a fine of up to $500. There may be another change on the horizon as well, where drivers will receive demerit points as well as the fine. THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR - DON'T TALK OR TEXT ON THE PHONE WHILE DRIVING.
FREEZING REMINDER Fri, Nov 20, 2015 With the cold temperatures we experience in Ontario it's important to know - If you are going to be away from your home during the usual heating season for more than four (4) consecutive days - REMEMBER - You must arrange for a competent person to enter your dwelling daily to ensure that the heating is being maintained OR you must shut off the water supply & drain all the pipes & appliances. If this isn't done, your insurance WILL NOT cover damage caused by freezing of any plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, sprinkler system or domestic appliance.
ICE DAMMING Fri, Nov 20, 2015 Ice damming occurs when snow on the roof begins to melt & freezes before it has a chance to run off. As the water runs down your roof, it freezes near the roof's edge and an ice dam starts to form. When this process repeats itself a few times it eventually creates a dam made of ice that prevents water from draining away causing the water to back up under the shingles and into the home. To help avoid ice damming: . Insure that your attic is adequately insulated; . Keep roof vents free of snow so cold air can circulate in your attic; . Ensure your soffit vents are not blocked by insulation; . From inside the home, seal any perforations in the ceiling . Inspect and clean gutters and downspouts of any debris

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO YOUR AUTOMOBILE POLICY!

Effective June 1, 2016, the Ontario government has introduced changes to the automobile insurance system to help make insurance premiums more affordable.  These changes only apply to auto insurance policies issued or renewed on or after June 1, 2016.
The changes will give you more choice over the coverages you select and the price you pay for auto insurance.  Many of the changes affect the Statutory Accident Benefits you receive if you are injured in an auto accident, regardless of who is at fault.  Some of these benefits have been reduced and some options for increased coverage have been eliminated or changed.
